Patrick Frank has taught in several higher education environments, most recently at the University of Colorado and the University of Kansas. His recent scholarly work has focused on Latin American graphic arts.

He is author of Posada’s Broadsheets: Mexican Popular Imagery 1890–1910 and Los Artistas del Pueblo: Prints and Workers’ Culture in Buenos Aires. He is a co-author with Marilyn Stokstad of the global survey textbook Art History (Third Edition) and the sole author of Artforms: An Introduction to the Visual Arts, now in its 9th edition. 

He also edited a volume of artists’ writings, Readings in Latin American Modern Art, published by Yale University Press. He is a graduate of the California State University system (Sacramento) and earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
