My project involves working with youth and the community. With sixth-grade students at San Martin Gwinn Elementary School in San Martin, a small town located between Gilroy and Morgan Hill, I am creating an 8-foot by 30-foot mural with the theme of “respect.” Along with students from Gavilan College in Gilroy, I am teaching the sixth-graders the techniques behind creating a mural. When they move on to middle school art classes, they will have an understanding of the fundamentals of art, and the school will have a beautiful mural.
