The Way    William Benschoter
My mural is inspired by John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ” The project uses everyday icons and imagery to convey that message, yet the mural can have multiple meanings depending on who is looking at it. For example, the use of a telephone pole to represent the cross or Jesus can also be taken at face value and mean communication; the sunset can mean another thing. This invites everyone to interact and participate with the mural. Because it raises questions, the mural is universal.
